  • Do you ever want to know how work at Masthead Studios? We want! Here is one special Interview with Chef Lead Designer Apostol Apostolov.


    Hello Apostol,
    Thank you very much for taking time for us. Here are some Questions:


    EarthriseHQ.de: Tell us something about yourself, please.

    Apostol Apostlov: My name is Apostol Apostlov, 30 year old Bulgarian game designer. My job at Masthead Studios is Lead Game Designer and it puts me in charge of a team of designers and writers dedicated to creating the game’s rules and content before it’s passed to art team, level designers and programmers. I am also responsible for keeping a unified vision of the game and making sure that Earthrise is a fun experience for all, from dedicated fans to new players.

    EarthriseHQ.de: How long have you been in the game-development branch and what qualifications do you have?

    Apostol Apostlov: I have been involved with game design for the last decade, having my hand in everything from designing tabletop role-playing, board, and card games; to traditional adventure games and casual titles. That allowed me to build experience in designing arbitrary systems and mechanics, many of whom have become traditions in computer role-playing games, including online RPGs.

    EarthriseHQ.de: What do you work at the moment? (at Earthrise)

    Apostol Apostlov: Currently I am knee deep in the skill system of the game, designing cool abilities and tactics that players will be able to test on each other, as well the countless hostile inhabitants of the game.

    EarthriseHQ.de: At which feature are you looking forward at most?

    Apostol Apostlov:
    Definitely crafting, as Earthrise will introduce one very different viewpoint on crafting that puts manufacturers and designers finally at a level where they can be as important and influential as combat-oriented players themselves.

    EarthriseHQ.de: Do you play games at the private? If yes, which games?

    Apostol Apostlov: Every game designer plays games – his mission is to play, learn and create. When it comes to playing titles, I regularly come back to both casual titles like Puzzle Quest and immersive MMORPGs like Lord of the Rings and EVE Online.
